Donenfeld, Baruch
Son of Liba and Moshe, was born on January 18, 1924, in the city of Sirat, Romania. At the end of 1945, he was among those arrested in Atlit, which the Haganah liberated in its well-known operation. He joined the “Bamavak” group in Herzliya. After working for a photographer in Ramat Gan, he opened his own business in Ra’anana. Baruch was a member of the Haganah from the day he immigrated to Israel. He was drafted in March 1948 and joined the Alexandroni Brigade. He underwent training in Netanya and participated in the conquest of the Tel Litwinski camp and Kfar Salameh. Baruch fell in the battle of Kakun on the 27th of Iyar 5708 (June 5, 1948). He served as a machine gunner in a class called by the enemy, was severely wounded and two hours later died of his wounds. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
