Doek, Chaim

Haim, who was born in Jerusalem, was born on December 13, 1944, in Netanya. He studied at the Itamar son of Avi elementary school and later completed his studies at the “Sharett” high school. Haim saw his mission in education and teaching, so he studied in a seminary for teachers and kindergarten teachers in Netanya. He was a diligent student. He worked hard on his studies and achieved great achievements. He was primarily interested in knowledge of the country and studied the plant in Israel. During his studies he edited a comprehensive booklet dealing with wild plants in Israel. He added a collection of dried wild plants he had prepared with his own hands. When he was a student he served as a guide at the Gadna branch in Netanya, where he excelled in light athletics, especially in long distance runs, and was very familiar with his landscapes and geography. In 1965 he completed his studies at the seminary and was awarded a certified teacher’s certificate Haim was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of August 1965 and underwent basic training in the infantry. He was later sent to serve in the Military School of Education, where he was allowed to apply the knowledge he acquired as a teacher. He successfully completed an officers’ course and was awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel and education officer in the armored brigade in the Sinai. Chaim made great efforts to succeed in his position. He saw the role of education officer as a challenge and a mission and was responsible for organizing cultural activities, evenings of entertainment and parties for the soldiers of the unit. He also brought lecturers to the unit, brought books and newspapers, and helped to ease the tension of training and operational activity. He was greatly appreciated by both the unit’s soldiers and its commanders. In 1968 he married Ruth and established, together with her, his home in Haifa, near his military service. In 1969 his daughter Oshra was born. In the same year, he volunteered to serve in the regular army and served as an education officer in the Minorities Unit until 1969. From 1970 until his release, he served as a teacher at the Military School of Education, and he was knowledgeable in many fields and was able to impart his knowledge to his students. He devoted all his energy and energy to the education of such soldiers and succeeded in bringing them to great achievements, which gave him satisfaction and happiness, and in this capacity he was promoted to the rank of captain At the beginning of August 1972, after serving four years in the regular army, Chaim was released and began studying In 1973 he studied at a seminary for emissaries of the Jewish Agency and was about to leave for Philadelphia as an emissary of the Jewish Agency, where he was prevented from fulfilling his plan. The organization had cultural activities for the soldiers of the unit during and after the fighting, and on the 24th of Tevet 5740 (18.1.1944) he went with the officers of the brigade’s headquarters to tour the units of the brigade. On the way to the unit Chaim found his death frozen to death. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Netanya. He left behind a wife and daughter, parents, two sisters and a brother. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “Chaim came to us in the very days of the fighting and as a teacher and educator, who wanted to give the soldiers more good literature, lectures, entertainment and films. On his last journey he traveled with the intention of examining what was missing for those lone soldiers, sitting so farWreck against desolation, mountains and snowstorms.
