Dishi, Yosef


Yosef, son of Batya and Ezra Dishi, was born in 1928 in Syria. In 1933, at the age of five, after the death of his mother, he was brought to Israel. Joseph was educated in an orphanage in Jerusalem. He joined Hanoar Haoved and became a print worker. When he was 16, he joined the Haganah and was active in it during the struggle and at the beginning of the War of Independence in defending Jerusalem. After the establishment of the State of Israel, he enlisted in full service in the Jerusalem Brigade and continued to participate in the defense of Jerusalem. Yosef fell in Yamin Moshe on May 30, 1948. He was buried in Sheikh Bader Aleph. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
