Detal, Michael


Michael, son of Luba and Aaron, was born on 25.4.1954 in Riga, Latvia, In mid-April 1973, Michael volunteered for IDF service and was assigned to the Artillery Corps, where he completed an artillery course and advanced artillery course, and took part in a Hebrew language course. During the Yom Kippur War, Michael fought with his unit in the Golan Heights and participated in the battle against the Syrians. On the 17th of Tishrei 5734 (17.10.1973), as his unit approached Mount Hermon, on which Michael dreamed of slipping skis when the day came, his unit encountered enemy fire and in the battle that took place Michael was injured and fell. He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Netanya. Survived by father, mother, and brothers. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal.
