Desta, Zelemel

Zelemel, son of Birka and Kibro, was born on August 18, 1986 in Ethiopia. He immigrated to Israel in 2006, enlisted in the IDF on 9 March 2011 and served as a combatant in the “Tzabar” battalion of the “Givati” Brigade. Zalemel was seriously injured on March 26, 2013, was hospitalized at Herzog Hospital in Jerusalem and died four years later. First sergeant Zelem Desta fell during his service on March 27, 2017. He was thirty and a half years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Givat Shaul cemetery in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents and sister.
