Dembski, Michael
Son of Max and Liesel. He was born on 28.1.1943 in Afula. He studied at the “Tel Hai” elementary school in Neve Sha’anan in Haifa and later attended the agricultural high school at the “Galim” youth village there. He loved literature and leaned toward sports. He was drafted into the IDF in October 1950 and served in the Nahal Brigade; He received his training at the Ginegar group, participated in the settlement of Korazim and finally in Kfar Aza, where he was a member of the kibbutz and worked in agriculture. He would go to reserve duty and at the outbreak of the Six-Day War he again fulfilled his role faithfully in his fight out of devotion. He fell in Gaza on the 28th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), the third day of the battles, when he was hit by sniper fire from the enemy. He left a wife and a child. He was buried in the military cemetery in Bari and later transferred to the eternal rest of the military cemetery in Haifa. A few pages were dedicated to his memory in the book “On Their Way” published by the Union of Kibbutzim and Kibbutzim in memory of the fallen members of the European Union
