Delebche, Herzl (Jacob)


Son of Habib and Sarah of blessed memory. He was born on February 10, 1951. He immigrated to Israel with his family in the same year, and moved to the Shapira neighborhood of Tel Aviv, where he studied at the Yesodei Torah religious elementary school In the Shapira neighborhood, and completed his studies at the municipal high school where he studied in the evening, devoting the day to work in his father’s shop, while Herzl was a member of the Hanoar Haoved vehalomed youth movement. – Artillery. After basic training and after completing a field artillery course and an anti-aircraft gun course, he was sent to an anti-aircraft unit in the south of the country. After a while he was promoted to sergeant and transferred to the Air Force as a non-commissioned anti-aircraft officer. Herzl took part in the War of Attrition and dropped two enemy planes. He received certificates for his success in the battle and was even awarded a gift by the Minister of Defense. After completing his military service, Herzl did an Air Force course in aviation industry and graduated with honors. At the end of the course, he began to work in the air industry, and every year he was called up for reserve service. On the 8th of Tevet 5707 (8.1.1975), Herzl died while serving in an active reserve duty. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and five brothers and sisters. His mother Sarah died in 1978.
