Degorker, Barak-Raphael


Barak-Raphael, son of Ora and Moshe Degorker, was born in 1986 in Gan Yavneh. Barak joined the IDF in March 2005. He served in the Combat Engineering Corps, completed a commanding course and filled a variety of positions, including the commander of a squad of recruits and the commander of an operational company, where he stood out as a very professional soldier and a loyal friend. Barak fell in battle during Operation Tzuk Eitan on 29 Tamuz, July 27, 2014. He was hit by a Katyusha fired from the Zeitun neighborhood in Gaza City. He was evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheva but died there. Barak was twenty-seven when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Gan Yavne cemetery. He was survived by his parents and two brothers. After his fall, Barak was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
