Davidovich, Benjamin


Son of Sarah and Efraim-Fishel was born in 1929 in the city of Volawa, in the Carpatho-Russian part of the Marmaros district (then Czechoslovakia, and in World War II again in Hungary). In the war years, he tortured and worked in labor camps. After the war he joined the “Hashomer Hatzair” educational and training group. Benjamin immigrated to Israel in 1946 on the ship “The Jewish Soldier” and was accepted to the “Aliyat Hanoar” institution. Later, he joined together with his entire youth company for training in Nir David (Tel David). During the War of Independence he served in one of the Negev Brigade battalions and took part in battles in the Negev. He fell in battle for generations on the 15th of Tammuz 5708 (15.7.1948) and was buried in Ruhama at the request of his father, who later immigrated to Israel and settled in Haifa, was transferred on the 16th of Iyar 5706 (16.5.1950) to the eternal rest in the cemetery Military in Haifa.
