Davidov, Elazar

Davidov, Elazar

Son of Bruria and Benjamin. Born in 1902 in Jerusalem, to a prominent Bukharian family, one of the founders of the Bukharian neighborhood in the city. He returned to Bukhara with his parents in 1929 and only in 1929 did the family succeed in returning to Eretz Israel. Elazar was a strong guy who did a lot of sports – mainly wrestling. In addition, he was a gifted musician who was good at playing the mandolin and took part in the family musical ensemble, which often performed at family events and celebrations of the Bukharan community. Elazar was an excellent construction worker and would save every penny to support his large family, who alone with his wife and five children supported his widowed mother and younger brother Meir. In addition, he dealt with public needs in faith, supported and encouraged every need, whether in words of encouragement or in actual help, from the little and the little that was in the house. As a veteran “defense” he would go out at night, subject to danger both by the Arab rioters who attacked Jewish neighborhoods and yeshivas, and by the British police, who used to search and confiscate any illegal weapons among the Jews. At the outbreak of the Second World War, Elazar joined the Nutrim army and served in Jerusalem. On the 13th of Tishrei, 5703 (24.9.1942), he passed away. Elazar was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. He left a wife, three sons and two daughters, a mother and four brothers.
