Davidov, Chai


Son of Tzippora and David. Was born on July 9, 1921 in Tel Aviv, his father was an actor and director, the founder of “The Hebrew Theater” and “The Art Theater” in Eretz Israel, and because of his profession the father was on numerous trips outside the home, Shfeya. “At the age of 14, he returned to Tel Aviv and began to help his parents with their livelihood, working in all sorts of jobs, and as a teenager he worked in garages and spent the evening studying at the Montefiore Technical School and studying sports and athletics He was a member of the “HaPoel” Association and a member of the team of the Tel Aviv branch of gymnastics, he excelled in most sports and the sea attracted him After he specialized in sailing boats and navigating them to the naval company of the Palmach. Was always ready to help others, and in an emergency he would immediately go into rescue operations even at risk. In 1941 he accepted the request of the National Institutions and enlisted in the British Army. Where he took a course in military engineering and was sent to serve as a driver of heavy cars. “Once, in one round in the mountains, his car was in danger from the edge of the abyss, and the trailer was tied behind it,” he said, “and he did not get confused, untied the trailer, got off the road and built himself a way to get back. The trailer, and arrived safely at the scene. ” On October 11, 1945, during his stay in Basra with his unit, he was burned in a work accident and died in the hospital, and was buried in the military cemetery in Basra, Iraq.
