David, Michael
Son of Tamar and Yosef, was born on March 11, 1961 in Moshav Menucha in the Lachish region, to a family with many children. Michael studied at the elementary school in Moshav, continued to study for three years at the “Even Shmuel” technical school and completed his last year at the “Shapira Center” – in a technical workshop. The father, who owned a truck, worked outside the house, and the mother did all the farm work with the help of her sons. Michael was the most diligent of them. In February 1979, Michael was drafted into the IDF and assigned to serve in the Armored Corps as a truck driver. Michael fell in the line of duty on the 13th of Sivan 5739 (June 8, 1979) and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. He was 18 years old when he fell. He left behind his parents, brothers and sisters. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Michael David was a devoted, responsible and disciplined soldier, and his commanders appreciated these qualities.”
