David, Elijah (Eli)


Son of Yehezkel and Batya. He was born on April 8, 1956, in Jerusalem. As a child he often fell ill and spent long periods of time in hospitals, yet he was a cheerful child and a diligent student. He began his studies at Or HaChaim in Jerusalem. Afterward, he moved to a high school in a boarding school in Kfar Batya (near Ra’anana), but his longing for the family forced him to return to Jerusalem where he successfully completed his studies at the youth school. Eli was very fond of his family. He liked to help his father at the store and his mother at home. During the Yom Kippur War, he volunteered to serve in hospitals in an emergency room. He later went on to volunteer in Magen David Adom. Eliahu was drafted into the IDF in May 1974 and asked to volunteer for the Paratroopers Brigade, but his request was rejected and he was posted to Golani, and he felt good at Golani that his ambition was to serve in the combat force. And as the commander of the base notes: “Eliyahu was an outstanding soldier and a loyal friend. In all the positions imposed on him, he was discovered as a soldier with energy, devotion, loyalty and devotion to the goal. “On 12.1.1975 Eliyahu died during his service. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents, two brothers and a sister. His family donated a Torah scroll to the Barashi Synagogue in Jerusalem, as well as two votive lamps in the Amadi synagogue, to commemorate his memory
