David Ben-Ari


Son of Yitzhak and Batya, David was born in Tel Aviv on November 22, 1944. He completed his elementary studies at the Katznelson School in Givatayim and later graduated from the Ort vocational high school in Jaffa and was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement. And for two years David attended an evening vocational school in order to receive an “Aumann” certificate, and in February 1963 he was drafted into the IDF and completed his regular service. Afterward he would go to reserve duty and his service was given out of recognition of the situation and with great readiness. During the Six-Day War he fought in the Golan Heights and fell on the fifth day of the battles. He was on the 9th of Sivan 5727 (9.6.1967), when the half-track in which he was traveling was burned. He was buried in a mass grave at the military cemetery in Afula and was later transferred to eternal rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. His memory was included in the Information Bulletin and the local life of the Givatayim Municipality and the Book of the Fallen, which was also issued by the municipality. His name was mentioned in his students’ magazine.
