David Barda
Son of-Vivian and Emile was born in Kiryat Yam on December 22, 1963. Despite his request to serve near Kiryat Yam, David was sent with his unit to participate in the fighting in Lebanon. Soon he became fond of his comrades in the unit and his commanders, who saw him as a professional, devoted and efficient soldier. At the end of January 1983, David asked for a short break to attend a memorial service for his grandfather, who had died a week earlier. His request was met, and he joined a convoy of armored personnel carriers that left in the early morning hours in the direction of the landing place in Dimur, and at the Sama’i gallery crossing they encountered an ambush of terrorists, and David was shot and killed on the spot on January 30, And was brought to rest at the cemetery in Tzur Shalom, where he left behind his parents, four sisters and two brothers, and in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, the defense minister wrote: “David gave his life for his homeland.
