David, Avi


Son of Naftali and the child. He was born on March 18, 1947, in the city of Vatra Dorna, Romania, where the family immigrated to Israel in 1961. The boy loved mathematics, belonged to a chess department and was a frequent painter. In an international painting exhibition, he won an international prize for mathematics and won a second prize, was an outstanding student at the Ramle-Lod High School, where he studied and graduated from high school, and as the director attests, his talents and ability were excellent. To the reconnaissance unit of one of the Armored Corps units, and there he took a course in reconnaissance. But in the middle of compulsory service, the Six-Day War broke out, on the first day of its battles, on the 5th of Iyar 5727 (June 5, 1967) in a battle at the Rafiah Junction, where he served as a cannon crew on a half-track. In his memory and commemoration of his name, Avi’s parents brought a Torah scroll to the “Achdut Yisrael” synagogue in Ramle, whose name was mentioned in the Armored Corps Patrol.
