Daschanda, Ashutosh


Ben Olga and Anand. He was born on the 16th of Elul 5728 (16.9.1968) in the Soviet Union. He attended elementary school and high school in Leningrad. Where he also completed his master’s degree in mathematics. Ashutosh was a restrained, silent boy who loved to study. He liked mostly poetry and history. After completing his studies and decided to immigrate to Israel, out of Zionist sentiment. His mother and younger brother remained in the Soviet Union and he lived with his grandmother and his uncle, his mother’s brother. As soon as he immigrated, in 1991, he studied at an ulpan in Be’er Sheva for about six months and then worked in a kibbutz in the south for three months. In January 1993, he was drafted into the IDF and began basic training, where he was discovered as a serious, intelligent, quiet and humble man, as his commanders testify: On January 31, 1993, Eshutosh fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery -seven. He left behind a mother and brother. In a letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Ashotosh was disciplined and well-behaved, a good friend, and carried out every task he was assigned to him without question.”
