Danziger, Yaacov-Yitzchok


Yaacov-Yitzchok, son of Tova and Yechiel Danziger, was born on August 28, 1962, in the city of Duisburg, Germany. In 1933 he immigrated to Israel with his parents. He served as a teacher for children from poor neighborhoods who had no regular education in their childhood. He was passionate about the well-being of his students, and he also encouraged them to play sports and live a healthy life. When the War of Independence broke out, because he was married and the father of a young child, it was not yet his turn to enlist, but as a member of the Haganah he volunteered, completed an officers’ course in Sharona and was appointed platoon commander in the Givati ​​Brigade. Yaacov-Yitzchok continued working in education and also in the education of army recruits. He participated in the attacks on Yazur and the conquest of Yavne and in an attack on the village of Qatra. Yaacov-Yitzchok fell, on the 27th of Nissan 5708 (May 6, 1948) and was laid to rest in the military cemetery at Nahalat Yitzhak.
