Danon, Rachel
Daughter of Vita and Mary. Rachel was born in Egypt on the 22nd of September 1929. She graduated from a French school in Egypt. In 1945 Rachel married Victor Danon. In 1948 her eldest daughter Miriam was born. In 1950 she immigrated to Israel with her daughter and husband, and a year later her second daughter Shula was born. The family moved to Kibbutz Shefayim, and Rachel worked in the kibbutz guest house. In 1954 her third son, Shlomo, was born, and in 1957 his son Golan was born. A year later, the family moved to Holon. In 1960, Rachel enlisted in the Israel Police. She served in the Abu Kabir detention center for about 20 years and reached the rank of sergeant (First Sergeant) On August 15, 1979, Rachel was killed in a car accident when a wheel exploded in her car. Was buried in the cemetery in Holon, leaving a husband and four children, four grandchildren, parents, two brothers and two sisters: “Rachel’s death was sudden and stunned the entire family and friends – all of them say she was unique.
