Danny Shore

Danny, son of Miriam and Shmuel, was born on August 28, 1952 in Afula, where his father served as an officer in the Border Police, and the family was forced to migrate following his father. From Afula to Safed, where he studied in kindergarten and first grade in Netanya, and completed his studies in the second grade, and after a year he moved to Moshav Gan Haim, where he studied at the elementary school in Moshav Tzofit, “The frequent transitions from one place to another made Danny’s social life very difficult, and only when he arrived at Moshav Gan Haim did he find his place and his world. He was an active and vigorous student, his inner disquiet and rebelliousness in the frameworks he expressed in his mischievousness and the many pranks he had initiated, yet he was loved by his teachers, and they remembered him as a boy with a sense of justice and integrity who always respected the consequences of his antics. The connections between Danny and his teachers and classmates continued for many years after graduating until the day they fell, and Danny liked to get to the bottom of things, was inquisitive and experimented with animals and plants. Many times he surprised his inventions, and one of his inventions – the acceleration of the growth of roses in the greenhouse by electric current – received attention at the Weizmann Institute. Danny was also an enthusiastic athlete and especially loved swimming and volleyball. His physical education teacher testified about him, who was the most prominent of his class in sports. He played volleyball in the “Hapoel” Gan Haim team and was swimming in the Hapoel Kfar Saba team. But he did not provide all his passion for activity, and he also participated regularly in the Gadna activity at Beit Berl, and he built many models and models of airplanes as a member of the aviation club, and he was loyal to his parents and devoted brother to his younger brother and sister. For his help in farm work or household chores, he was very fond of life in the village and planned to study agriculture at the Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot, Danny was drafted into the IDF in early August 1970 and volunteered for the Shaked reconnaissance unit. After basic training, he was accepted to an aviation course, but after a certain stage he was assigned to the Armored Corps and completed a tank training course and a course for tank commanders. After that he passed an officers’ course and an armored officer course, and served as a guide in the artillery section. At the same time, he participated in the Armored Corps in the Israel Volleyball Championship, and his commanders appreciated him as an excellent officer and an excellent instructor, with a wide range of professional knowledge, and was meticulous in his work. He was an excellent gunner and was constantly working to improve his achievements in this field: Danny saw the mission as a mission, believed in the future of the Armored Corps, and appreciated its possibilities.In the Yom Kippur War, Tanks, one by one, until he was injured.In the midst of the battle Danny took over Command deputy commander, after his commanding officers were injured. On the tenth of Tishrei Tsl”d (06/10/1973) enters the tank commanded a battle with an Egyptian force in the region “Milan”, in the northern region Sinai, and disappeared. Testimonies collected indicate that the tank driver’s voice was heard in the radio and announced that the tank and his crew had been hit. Danny was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kfar Sava. Survived by his parents, three brothers and a sister. His parents and members of the moshav published a pamphlet in his memory, in which members say about his character.
