Danino, Shlomo

Danino, Shlomo

Son of Hanna and Rafael, was born in Meknes, Morocco. In his city, he studied at the Talmud Torah and the Kol Israel Haverim school, and later studied shoemaking and worked there. When he heard of Israel’s war for freedom, he could no longer sit peacefully and engage in his work. Together with other young volunteers, he moved to a training camp of the Haganah in southern France and from there immigrated with them to Israel in 1948. He immediately enlisted in the IDF in the Alexandroni Brigade. Shlomo was killed in a road accident near Beit Lid on the 27th of Tevet 5768 (28.1.1949) and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
