Danieli, David


Son of Miriam and Rabbi. He was born on June 10, 1960 in Iran, to a family that observes tradition and mitzvot. When David was four years old, his family immigrated to Israel and established their home in Ashkelon. David studied at Yeshurun ​​Elementary School in Ashkelon, continued at the Ohel Shlomo School and graduated from the Rogozin Comprehensive High School. Prior to his enlistment in the IDF, David was invited to take part in air-force tests and a naval team, and David went to study in the framework of a pedagogical academic reserve, and he went to study at the Lipshitz State Religious Seminary in Jerusalem. He went through basic training and took courses in anti-aircraft operations. During the course of his studies, he spent 50 days of service in the Israel Defense Forces, completing his studies and obtaining a certified teacher’s certificate. After his discharge he taught in Kfar Silver. One of his students said that “David was a good teacher like a friend.” David was called up for reserve duty and went on to become operational in the Jordan Valley. On the 7th of Cheshvan 5749 (7/11/1988) David fell in the line of duty. He was stabbed by an Arab while guarding the gate of Moshav Massuah and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Ashkelon. Survived by his parents, brother – Mordechai and three sisters – Shoshana, Shula, and Dalia. His commander from the reserve period wrote: “David went out to protect the country and the settlement sites in Eretz Yisrael. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin wrote: “Corporal David Danieli gave his life for his homeland, and David was very devoted to his job, And the establishment of a network of aid and education activities for the benefit of the community, named after Heichal David, the Jewish Students Organization in Rome planted a tree in his memory in the forest of the Jewish National Fund.
