Son of Aliza and Sabah. He was born on May 7, 1969 in Moshav Meitav in the Ta’anachim region. Assi began studying at a religious school in the region, then continued to finish the Nir HaEmek Elementary School in Afula. As a child he excelled in many fields and always stood out among his friends as an active boy and as a natural leader who knew how to unite and unite his friends around him. He liked to help his grandfather manage the family farm, knew when to irrigate and spray and when to pick and used to transport the family tractor the agricultural produce to places of concentration. His great love was football. At first he played for the youth team of Maccabi Afula and thanks to his good game, the team moved to the A-North national youth league. Three years later, he advanced in his game and joined the Maccabi Afula team, which played in the A-League in the positions of Belam and Kashar and was one of the pillars of the team and the best players. A year later, a group of members of kibbutzim and farms in the area, called Hapoel Ta’anach and under the influence of his uncle, who was the group’s manager, joined it. Within a year, the team won the regional league championship and the League Cup in 1986. Asi was drafted into the IDF in May 1987, and after basic training he was assigned to the IDF, where he completed his education at the Military School for Education. , And since he knew how to drive, he became a driver in the unit and at the same time dealt with other tasks that were imposed on him, as necessary.) On December 20, 1987, Assi fell in the line of duty and was brought to rest, World at the Military Cemetery in Afula. After his fall, he was promoted to corporal. Survived by his parents, three brothers and a sister – Haim, Erez, Oren and Malka. At the open grave, the commander of his brigade said to him: “You were a new soldier in the unit, and immediately your qualities stood out – responsibility, dedication, loyalty, every task you performed was done in the best possible way and to the satisfaction of your commanders.” In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “In the short time since Assi joined our unit, we have been deeply impressed by his great devotion and the good spirit with which he performed his task.” His unit published a pamphlet in his memory; As a token of appreciation, the soccer team in which he played decided to change its name to Hapoel Asi Taanach. The Valley of the Valleys is awarded each year and bears the name ‘Asi Cup’; And every year there is a football tournament in his name and memory, in which a trophy, medals and certificates bearing his name and picture are divided.
