Dan Sela
Dan, the only son of Ayelet and Mutti Sela, was born in Afula on the 3rd of Adar 5757 (March 12, 1997). Alongside his many talents, Dan was a modest and quiet boy, with a personal charm, loved by everyone and a social activist. His classmates knew that he could be approached for help, and that he would always reply wittily and offer a creative solution. Dan stamped his mark on every person he met.
He was drafted on 9.7.2015. Two and a half weeks after his enlistment, Dan and his company went on a tour of Moriah. Dan Sela fell in the course of his duty, in the heavy heat of Jerusalem, on the 19th of Av 5755 (4.8.2015). He was eighteen years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Afula.
In Cleveland, Ohio, a children’s library was dedicated in the memory of Dan, and a video clip was uploaded to the YouTube site on the thirtieth day of his death. During the intermediate days of Pesach, 5766/2016, the Kerem Dan was inaugurated in the Jezreel Valley, a Yaffa corner between the olive groves of Kibbutz Geva.
