Ben Shulamit and Sasson. Was born on May 19, 1973, in Petah Tikva, to a family of three children. When Tzachi was two years old, the family moved to Afula and a year later they settled in Tiberias. Tzachi attended the Erlich Elementary School and the Amal vocational high school in the mechanics track. A cheerful, lively boy who loved life. He was active in the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement and had plenty of swim and surf. His greatest love was the motorcycles. In high school he had many friends and four of them created a group called the “Quintet” and together they did everything. At the beginning of August 1991, Tzahi was drafted into compulsory military service in the IDF, and his older brother, Eyal, served in the Golani Brigade and Tzachi chose to follow in his footsteps, completing a long and difficult basic training course, I was sent to serve in the Barak Battalion and went with the battalion for training and operational activity on the Lebanese border. Tzachi loved the army, especially the operational activity. Be very proud to be a warrior. Although he was not a religious boy, he always lit a candle before leaving for the base and greeted the blessing. Later on he was promoted to sergeant. His friends in the company said that Tzahi was a quiet, modest, even a little shy but self-confident man, and was a wonderful fit in the company. Turned out to be a brave fighter and volunteered for every mission. Tzachi had close and warm relations with his family. He showed great concern for his mother’s poor health. When he was on vacation from the army, he returned to the big earrings, the chains and the loose clothes. On August 19, 1993, Tzachi was killed in a battle in Lebanon, and he and a Golani force were ambushed in the area of ​​al-Farsh village in the security zone in southern Lebanon. He was survived by his brother Eyal and his sister, Mirit, who was twenty years old when he fell. Defense Minister Yitzhak Rabin wrote to the family: “Tzachi was an exemplary fighter, ready for every mission at all times, always giving a helping hand to his friends, and was loved by his friends and commanders and received sincere admiration from those around him.” In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “We lost Tzahi, who was one of our best fighters … We will continue to follow the same dedication that characterized your son, and we will continue to defend our homes and children” . The family members commemorated his memory in an elegant Torah scroll on parchment, which they donated to the synagogue in the Neve Shalom neighborhood of Tiberias.
