Dahbo, Yuval (Yuvalik)

Yuval (Yuvalik), son of Shulamit and Zvi, was born on 23.9.1951 in Kibbutz Ma’agan. He attended the “Yad La-Chamisha” elementary school in Moshav Barak and the David Ben-Gurion High School in Afula. Yuval was a diligent student, meticulous in his lessons and loved by his teachers and friends. His educator says that “his look was clear, his eyes had cleverness and his hair was curly, he was unusual in his sabra manner, his alertness, his mischievousness and his steadfastness.” He was a sports fan and a member of the fencing club at school. He also liked to dismantle and assemble mechanical tools and to deal with the construction of electronic devices. Yuval was friendly and acceptable to his friends, very cordial and involved in everything around him. He was always willing to help anyone with advice and action. He was honest, streight, frank and conscientious, and never demanded of others what he did not demand of himself. He had a great sense of humor and he liked to joke and be happy and sometimes even make pranks. By nature he was an entrepreneur and excelled in the wisdom of hands; he was very good at his job and did it faithfully and lovingly. In his parents’ farm he was engaged in experimental cultivation of ground nuts. He was a faithful son and devoted to his parents, respected them and cared for their welfare. Yuval was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early May 1969 and was assigned to the Signal Corps, and after completing his basic training, he took part in a course for radio and radio operators, officers ‘training and officers’ courses. He was attached to the Armored Corps and participated in raids in Lebanon and the Golan Heights. His commanders wrote about him in his opinion: “He is a diligent, resourceful and talented soldier, a good and dedicated soldier, who fulfills his role well, responsibly and disciplined.” A few months after he was released from regular service, and three months after he married his girlfriend Ziva, the Yom Kippur War broke out. Yuval was drafted and sent with his unit to the front in the Golan Heights. On the 7th of Tishrei 5734 (October 7, 1973), Yuval fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the Afula cemetery. He left behind a wife, father, mother, brother, and sister. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Yuval was an outstanding soldier in the unit. All his soldiers respected him because of his personality and professional expertise. “His parents donated a Torah scroll to the synagogue in Moshav Barak, which was included in the booklet, which the Moshav Movement published in memory of members of the movement who fell in the war: David ben Gurion- Published a pamphlet in memory of his graduates who fell in the battle, and Yuval was among them, and the Ministry of Agriculture dedicated a booklet containing the data on the cultivation of ground nuts, and two French students, who conducted research on the next generation of moshavim, dedicated the research to his memory.
