Meir spent one year in England, worked as a waiter and paid his parents. As soon as he was drafted, he returned to Israel to fulfill his duty. Meir was drafted into the IDF at the end of December 1983. After completing basic training he successfully completed a driving course and began his service as a driver in the IDF.
