Dahan, David
Their son is the firstborn of Chaim and Aliza. He was born on the 20th of Sivan 5761 (20.6.1951) in the Damanat district of Morocco. David was about two years old when his family immigrated to Israel in 1953 – and his father was one of the first settlers in Moshav Brosh, in the western Negev. He studied at the “Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak” elementary school in the moshav and in the Chabad vocational school in Kfar Chabad. At the vocational school, he studied frameworks but continued to do so for only two years, because at the beginning of his studies it turned out that this profession was not his favorite. From childhood he had been fond of mechanics and liked to dismantle and assemble, inspect, and search among various engines. He then left Kfar Chabad and went to study mechanics at the Even HaEzer school near Beit Shemesh, where he had his second home, where he acquired his knowledge of mechanics and discovered his talent in the profession. He would say: “I will finish the army and do everything possible to improve the economic situation in the home and also the state of mind.” By early May 1969 he was drafted into the IDF and chose to continue his army service. He was loved and accepted by all his commanders and friends and was among the best in the profession. On the 19th of Tishrei 5732 (19.10.1971) he died in the course of his duties and was brought to rest in the cemetery in Moshav Brosh, and the commander of the unit wrote a letter of condolence to his parents, in which he noted his friendship, talents and devotion to his duties. : “I worked with David on the canal line and in training, and in both of them he grew up as a loved one among his friends and as a soldier who does his work faithfully. David was an exemplary mechanic, a doctor of the machine, and with his ability, initiative and improvisation helped us wherever we went. “One of his friends noted in his list of David after they fell that” cleverness, rare courage and inexhaustible energy are some of the characteristics that characterized David. “His parents donated to his memory furniture and reference books to the library of students at the” Ohalei Yosef Yitzchak Chabad “school in his place of residence – Moshav Brosh; A marble plaque with a candle and a picture of David was installed in the library. On the anniversary of his death, a memorial ceremony was held in the library room, attended by local rabbis, local rabbis and school teachers; A library of holy books was established in his synagogue.
