Dahan, Amram


Amram, son of Zohar and Abraham, was born on July 7, 1953 in Hadera,Amram was drafted into the IDF in early November 1971 and volunteered to serve in the Golani infantry brigade. At first they urged him to join the academic reserve, but he decided that he had to serve the IDF as part of a combat unit and thus reached the Golani Brigade, where he completed a course for squad commanders. While serving in the army, he was found to have the ability to lead and form a cohesive force among the soldiers in the battalion. During the Yom Kippur War, the brigade participated in the battles against the Syrians in the Golan Heights. Amram’s unit was ordered to purify the village of Beit Jann. In this battle, Amram commanded a squad of fighters that operated quickly and efficiently and helped to rescue the main force, which was in a difficult battle with the enemy. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5740 (October 22, 1973), the Golani Brigade battalions set out to conquer the Hermon outpost from the Syrian army. In the battle of heroism, in which many of the brigade’s fighters fell, Amram was wounded and killed. He was brought to eternal rest in the Hadera cemetery. Survived by his parents and three sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to First Sergeant.
