Dagan, Yehoshua


Yehoshua, son of Yosef and Bina Dagan, was born on January 29, 1934 in Hadera. He was drafted into the IDF in September 1951 and gave his regular service as a Nahal instructor on a kibbutz. Modest and simple in his ways and original in his opinions. During the Six Day War, he served as the commander of a mortar team in the Sayeret, and stood out for his heroism and cool temper. On the third day of the battles, on 28 Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), Yehoshua fell in a battle in Nablus when a sniper bullet hit him. He left a wife and two children. He was buried in the military cemetery in Nahariya and was later transferred to eternal rest in the Hadera cemetery.
