Dagan Moshe Wertman
Son of Deborah and Elijah, Dagan was born in Jerusalem on the 17th of Shvat 5737 (12 February 1977). A middle child in a family with five children, a brother to Shachar Menahem, Maayan Ze’ev, Tamara Varda and Kerem Shalem. Dagan grew up in Ma’ale Michmas, northeast of Jerusalem. Dagan joined the IDF on November 22, 2000, and served as a combat soldier in Golani, after taking an officers’ course, returning to the 13th Battalion in the brigade, where he continued to serve in the IDF. Operation Cast Lead”. Two other fighters fell with Dagan: First Sergeant Natai Stern and Corporal Yosef Moadi. Dagan was thirty-one years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem. Survived by parents, three brothers and a sister. Dagan was promoted to major after his fall.
