Curiel, Shlomo

Shlomo, Ben Sarah, and Moshe was born on February 23, 1945, in Kfar Saba, During the Six-Day War, while still in regular service, he fought in the occupation of Tel Azziyat in the Golan Heights, and was wounded in the knee. After completing his regular service, Shlomo was placed in the Armored Corps, and was assigned to reserve duty as a non-commissioned officer in the Armored Corps battalion. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Shlomo was called to his unit and took part in the great breakthrough to the West Bank of the Suez Canal. On the night of the 16th of Tishrei, 5740 (October 16, 1973), the half-tracks of the mortars under his command were ambushed by the enemy. Shlomo was hit and killed. After the end of the war he was declared missing, but the day before the evacuation of the area where he was injured, his body was found. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kfar Saba. He left behind a mother, three sisters, and a brother.
