Confino, Ezra


Was born on the 8th of Tevet, January 8, 1930 in Istanbul, Turkey, and immigrated to Israel as part of Youth Aliya in 1946. At the outbreak of the War of Independence Ezra joined the army, served in the 7th Brigade and was one of the first soldiers of the Armored Corps. He participated in the battles of Latrun and the crossing of the road to Jerusalem. In the Hiram operation to liberate the central Galilee, in a raid on Gush Chalav, Ezra was hit by three bullets on the 26th of Tishrei, 5709 (October 29, 1948). He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
