Comins, David

Comins, David

Son of Cyril and Moriah-Chana. He was born on February 18, 1958 in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. He studied at the Jewish Day School in Glasgow. He immigrated to Israel with his father, the doctor, in 1971. He lived in Ramat Hasharon and studied there in high school. David was a sensitive and conscientious boy and liked his new friends in school in Israel. As a student he acclimatized nicely in his studies, despite the difficulties of language and the new environment. He was particularly interested in scientific subjects, and innovations in science attracted him greatly. David was active in sports and his main hobby was basketball. David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in February 1976 and assigned to the Israel Air Force, and was promoted to sergeant a year later. David fell during his service on the 17th of Adar 2, 5738 (March 26, 1978). He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul. Survived by his parents and two brothers. The squadron commander’s letter to his father said: “We are proud that your son served in our unit, and I am certain that David was enjoying an interesting and satisfying service in the squadron, but above all it seems to me that his satisfaction was his service in the IDF.”
