Cohen, Zvi
Son of Tovah and Dov. Zvi was born in the city of Butushan in Romania on January 1, 1924. He immigrated to Israel as part of Youth Aliyah in 1944, during World War II. During the War of Independence, Zvi served in the Golani Brigade and was one of three soldiers of one platoon who survived a bitter battle. Zvi married in 1951 and lived with his family in Tivon. He was devoted to his wife and a devoted and loving parent to his children, loved to read in his spare time and also used to sing. Zvi joined the police force two years after his marriage, and served as a researcher in the police. During his service he served as commander of Nesher Point. He was very popular with his police colleagues. Sgt. Zvi was killed in a car accident while performing his duties on the 1st of Adar 5721 (February 17, 1961), returning from a criminal investigation, at the age of 30. He was buried in Haifa’s Carmel Beach cemetery.
