Cohen, Yosef (Yosef)
Son of Sarah and Abraham, was born on 10.4.1924 in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, where he studied in the Talmud Torah school of the community, and his soul was drawn to the Land of Israel, which is so close and courageous He crossed the road with some of his friends and, lacking food, continued to return, and in the third time in 1944 he walked the same way along the mountain paths and made a firm decision not to return to the Diaspora. After a year he went to a training course for youth from Eretz Israel in Ein Harod, He grew up and became a tall and strong man, “the strongest of the bunch,” healthy and cheerful, he loved the place and the tractor work, and enjoyed the great output of his work. As a former venerable son, he could not forget the giddur and the elegance, he liked to dress nicely and tastefully, and sometimes, when the longing for urban life bothered him, he was given a vacation to enjoy some of the pleasures of Tel Aviv. At the time of the United Nations General Assembly’s decision to partition the country into two states and the outbreak of the War of Independence, he was on vacation in Tel Aviv, but returned to his kibbutz for work and protection, enabling him to contribute his part extensively, courageously and in sacrifice. But when the time came to conquer the village and the people of the kibbutz were only seven places in the occupying unit, They were eager to participate in it, and it was necessary to draw a lottery among the members One of the seven, expressed the wrath of the entire group by saying: “I will show them.” He went out on Wednesday, June 11, 1948, but he did not return to the celebration of victory. He was laid to rest in the Revivim military cemetery.
