Cohen, Yoram
Son of Sima and Shimon. He was born on November 6, 1969 in Be’er Sheva. He attended Eshel Avraham Elementary School. After completing his studies there, he moved to Yeshiva in Netivot. Two years later, he left the yeshiva and continued his studies at the nuclear research center of Dimona, where he studied drawing and electricity. He graduated with honors. He was a good singer, and during his studies he joined a chassidic choir and appeared in public, but his main passion was playing soccer and he played as a defender in a local team. He later passed a football refereeing course, successfully completed it, and was awarded a judge’s certificate for which he was proud. He was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of November 1987. After completing basic training, he was appointed to serve in the General Staff, and Yoram fell during his duty on December 12, 1988 near Mitzpeh Ramon and was put to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. Survived by his parents, two sisters and three brothers – Etti, Riki, Nissim, Moshe and Michael. In an opinion that his commander wrote about during his service, it was said that he had carried out his duty impeccably and with the satisfaction of his commanders. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote, among other things, that he was a responsible and dedicated soldier and served as an example to his comrades in his willingness to volunteer and help, thereby avoiding any work. The commander added that Yoram received great sympathy and many of his friends, because of the friendly attitude he displayed and the special sense of humor he enjoyed.
