Cohen, Yitzhak


Born in Safed. As a young man, he moved to Yesod Hama’ala, where he served as a guard in a perfume factory. There he married and within a few years they had two sons and two daughters. He and his wife were known as a diligent, honest and kind-hearted couple. Yitzhak fulfilled his duties as a guard with devotion and loyalty, and everyone knew that he could be trusted. At that time there were thefts of wood from the nearby farm and on 5 Kislev, 24.11.1903, some thieves were caught in the act. There was a big fight and Yitzhak was wounded in the head. He died of his wounds and was laid to rest in the Yesod Hama’ala cemetery, leaving a wife and four children.
