Ben-Sheva and Moshe. He was born on 18.9.1973 in Givat Shmuel, the brother of Lazio and Adi. Yirmi was named after his uncle, who fell during a military operation in the Jordan Valley in the 1970s. Yirmi was a lively and lively child whose blue eyes illuminated and showed great curiosity and openness to the world. When he was four, he moved with his family to Tel Aviv and began his studies at the “Tel Hai” elementary school. When he reached fifth grade, he moved with his family to Kfar Saba, where he attended the Ussishkin elementary school and went on to the Yigal Alon junior high school. Yirmi, who drew on his love of the land and man from his parents’ home, became politically aware from an early age and took part in every discussion that took place within the framework of the company’s lessons in the school. In the memoir of the school, the members wrote: “The act of Birmi Cohen, whose blue eyes are unparalleled in politics, is interested in outstanding debates, we will still have a decent military man.” In his youth, Yirmi joined the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. The members of the movement were close to his views, so he retired a few months later and moved to the Hashomer Hatzair movement with the intention of influencing the members and changing their leftist approach. Where he found a convenient place to conduct heated debates about the need to preserve the national assets of the Land of Israel. Yirmi chose to participate in the Tehiyyah movement, because he is connected to his land, is close to tradition, observes his customs and respects his religion, and Yirmi has a high technical sense. And he joined the military academy in Haifa and joined the military academy, where he studied diligently and completed his studies with honors, and he acquired many friends who describe Yirmi’s aspiration for excellence and his dream of a military career. Until the draft he played for the Maccabi basketball team in Kfar Saba at the beginning of December 1991 Yirmi enlisted in the IDF and asked to serve in the Armored Corps. After basic training, he underwent a course for tank commanders. He soon became prominent in leadership, ambition, motivation, and kindness when helping his friends on their travels and exercises. Yirmi Zuman, the first of his classmates, completed an officers’ course, graduated with honors and completed the training course, and was appended as a guide to the officers’ staff of the officers’ school. Although he was asked to continue another cycle, he refused, because he wanted to realize his mission in the army. Yirmi became the first officer among his comrades, and only nine months later, other officers joined. Yirmi was a perfectionist, showed wisdom of life, great intelligence, courage and a willingness to carry out difficult tasks. The battalion commander was deeply impressed by the way he functioned, promoted him to the operations officer, and later sent him to a company commanders’ course. Yirmi finished the course in a very short period of time, while still in the army, and became the youngest company commander in the IDF. He was assigned to command a company in the “Sufa” battalion. Yirmi received the most modern Merkava tank and was assigned to defend a difficult, complex and dangerous figure. A month after arriving in the battalion, he went to serve in Lebanon. The relationship between him and the battalion commander gradually developed and in time became a system of close relations, understanding, trust and mutual appreciation. The battalion commander’s number: “At the stage of the platoon exercises, he really began to flourish. I discovered new aspects from him professionally: a drop to details, orderly preparation, everything went very smoothly.” Yirmi was known for his great concern for his soldiers and his unwillingness to compromise everywhere In which he was concerned that any of them had been wronged, and that his soldiers appreciated their commander and admired him, and during his service Yirmi was introduced to the then chief of staffGen. Amnon Lipkin-Shahak, who said: “I met Yirmi in the Golan Heights on two different training visits by accident, the first time I visited him in a company exercise, and I saw him running the exercise and he explained to me how he prepares the company for its missions, I saw him and the company operating exceptionally well and at a high professional level, and at the end of the exercise Yirmi spoke to me and the company, noting how much he trusted her and saw how much the soldiers trusted the company commander. A few weeks later I saw Yirmi in a regimental exercise. His hand was bandaged by an injury. “I saw him with the bandaged hand running the company like a commander of an excellent tank company knows how to manage a company.” GOC Northern Command Amiram Levin added: “In the battalion exercise, Yirmi’s influence was reflected in the high level of performance of the company. If Yirmi wanted to stay in the army, the system would have embraced him and carried him forward. ” The brigade’s armaments officer spoke of his “gentle manner, his authority, when he speaks to you, you feel that he is facing a man of stature.” Yirmi was to immigrate with his soldiers to Beaufort, and as usual he wanted to study the sector in order to prepare his soldiers for the anticipated missions in Lebanon. Yirmi did not get back from this mission, his life was interrupted by the helicopter disaster in the rest of the settlement. On the evening of 28 February 1997, the helicopter disaster occurred when two Yasur helicopters collided over Moshav Shear Yashuv. The seventy-three fighters, who made their way to operational activity in Lebanon, were killed, among them Yirmi. He was twenty-three years old when he fell. He was laid to rest in the Segula military cemetery in Petah Tikva. Survived by parents and two sisters, and her friend Revital. After his death he was promoted to the rank of Major. The commander of the platoon wrote to Yirmi in a warm voice: “A year ago, you got C Company in the Barak formation, and you went through the whole line of positions in the battalion, from platoon commander to lieutenant colonel, The company … You have carried out many difficult missions in training, operational and alert operations in the north of the Golan Heights, and you have achieved all the achievements that are reserved for the first line. And your soldiers bow their heads and salute you. In a condolence letter to the bereaved family, Chief of Staff Amnon Lipkin-Shahak wrote: “Yirmi was a symbol and example of a commander who is loved by his soldiers, who has a high ability, managerial ability and command, and whose soldiers will follow him for every mission.” One of his soldiers wrote, “Some people remain alive after death . You, Yirmi, such a man. “Yermi has always been – and will remain – a figure of appreciation, a figure to learn from … He inspired all my actions. In the battalion, all my duties as an officer in the battalion were compared to him … For me, he was on the one hand – the ideal, professional, honest, courageous and aggressive officer, and on the other hand – looking after his soldiers like a father to his children. ” Yirmi’s friend, who served as an officer, wrote to the family: “It was clear to me that Yirmi was an outstanding officer, but he was always so modest, and I was happy to learn that in our generation there is still Zionism, true faith and amazing beauty. Except that from it came an even deeper beauty – the beauty of his pure soul. ” Another friend wrote: “You: a friend, a commander, an educator, a figure, a role model for all your limbs, is not … I knew magical moments with you. Moments of great difficulty, moments of happiness, laughter and foolishness until senselessness. You knowFirst and foremost as a man, handsome and looking, smart, considerate, stubborn, tough, you were always with her. Always doing things in the best way that characterized you only … your character, your character, your inner and outer beauty, these rare traits that characterized you only, will remain with me forever and always will. In your memory, Yirmi established a briefing room in the battalion, as part of his principles and belief in the importance of training and training of soldiers and staff.
