Cohen, Yeshayahu
Son of Rivka and Dov, was born on March 5, 1930 in the city of Cologne, Germany, and he immigrated to Palestine with his family in October 1934. He joined the Haganah, and first served in the Gadna and filled many positions during the underground period. A year later, he was transferred to the Haganah in the Givati Brigade, and although he was young, he devoted many days to training and activities, and was one of the first to enter the Sharona camp after being evacuated by the British and those who turned it into a training camp. On May 16, 1948, two days after the declaration of the establishment of the State of Israel, he and his friend were sent to carry out an act of sabotage in the Baka neighborhood near Talpiot. The bullets wounded Yeshayahu mortally, and he was brought to rest in the cemetery in the Sanhedria neighborhood of Jerusalem, where his friends from the Bnei Akiva organization established a library in his memory.
