Cohen, Yehuda, Dr.
Son of Jacob and Regina. He was born on March 21, 1939, in Jerusalem, and completed his studies at Ma’aleh High School and completed it successfully. Yehuda was released from service, but he insisted, put pressure on him and even used the name of his father who fell in the War of Independence to be accepted, because he believed it was a duty of every young man from Israel to serve his country. He was drafted into the IDF in November 1957 and after one year of service he took the entrance exams to the Faculty of Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he stood, and to his delight there was no limit, for he always took his life and devoted himself to his studies with all his soul. He studied diligently until he graduated from the Faculty in 1965, and it was clear that he would continue his service in the IDF. In the army he served in the minority unit and reached the rank of lieutenant. Julio in general – and the soldiers in particular – saw him as a doctor and a man of great spirit who understands the soul and instills trust and hope for healing. His aspiration was for psychiatry – and again, wanting to get closer to Adam, but he preferred to fulfill his duties to his homeland and his people, and only then planned his profession. But his plan did not materialize, because on the 17th of Av 5726 (August 2, 1966) he fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. He left a wife and a daughter.
