Cohen-Tawil, Eliyahu


Eliahu, son of Miriam and Haim, was born on July 27, 1953, in Lod, where he studied at the Herzlia elementary school. He continued his studies at the “Amal” high school, where he studied electrical engineering. After completing his studies, he worked for a short time in his new profession. Eliahu was drafted into the IDF in early August 1971 and assigned to the infantry corps, where he underwent a course of machine gun fire, a rifle squad commander course and an infantry commander’s course, and he loved his service and faithfully. His unit in the Golan Heights on October 9, 1973. He was sent to the eternal rest in the Lod cemetery and left behind a father, A brother, and sister, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant, In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Eliahu was one of the best fighters, and during the fighting he performed his role in the best possible way.” Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Eliahu was an excellent soldier and a devoted friend, and he was loved by everyone who knew him.” His family donated a Torah scroll to the Rambam Synagogue in Lod.
