Son of Chaim and Chana. He was born on the 21st of Iyar, April 28, 1950 in Jerusalem. He attended the “Doresh Zion” elementary school in his hometown. Shimon was very fond of sports competitions. Thrillers and spies appealed to him, and he liked to read them at leisure. He was also interested in what was going on in the world of cinema, and for a while he was eager to be an actor. He had a great sense of humor, always smiling. He was recruited in the IDF, in May 1968. He had peace of mind, demonstrated dedication to his job, and was liked by all his friends in the unit. During a patrol near Ismailia, Shimon was wounded by a bazooka bomb fired at him, by Egyptian soldiers. After being in the hospital for eleven days, despite the doctors’ efforts to save him, Shimon died of his wounds on the 11th of Tishrei, October 3, 1968. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. His commander wrote a letter of condolence to his mother, among other things, wrote: “Although your son served in my unit for a short period of time, he immediately distinguished himself from all his comrades in his quiet character, in his obedience to all the orders given to him, and in the proper performance of his duties. It was hard for him, but he never tried to shirk his responsibilities. There is no doubt that his character and devotion brought his friends and commanders to respect and love him. “
