Cohen, Shaul
Son of Esther and Joseph, was born on November 8, 1925 in Jerusalem. When he was a year old, his father died. Shaul was six years old when he was brought to the Diskin orphanage in Jerusalem, where he studied Torah and crafts and specialized in frameworks. When he was in the orphanage he took care of the garden. Shaul was easy to understand, disciplined and responsible, and he was faithful to the values of the tradition on which he was educated. At the age of 18 he left the institution, began to work in his profession and live from his hands. With the outbreak of the War of Independence, he volunteered for the ranks that stood guard over Jerusalem. When he was in a blood-feuding position, he was wounded and lay for several days in the English hospital, where he died on the 18th of June 1948. He was buried in Sanhedria. On April 24, 1952, he was laid to rest at the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
