Cohen, Raphael (“Rafi”)

Son of Rabbi Hananiah Hacohen and Matilda. Born on 15 July 1946 in Tel Aviv, he studied at the Remez Elementary School in Holon and at the agricultural high school in Ein Karem, near Jerusalem. In his youth, he was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement and afterward he even guided the movement – both in Eilat and in the region. Rafi was drafted into the IDF at the end of June 1963. He served for a year in the Border Police, and after completing his regular service he was called for periods of reserve duty.In light of 18 August 1970, On the Golan Heights in an encounter with the enemy, and was brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery.
