Cohen, Rami
Son of Aliza and her friends, was born on the 19th of Iyar 5708 (19.5.1958) in Moshav Kfar Vitkin. His eldest son was in a peasant family based in Emek Hefer. Rami was one year old when his parents moved to Moshav Givat Shapira, and when he was 5 years old, the family settled in Moshav Hofit. He studied at the elementary school in Kfar Vitkin and continued his studies at the Ruppin Regional High School and the Emek Hefer Regional High School. Rami excelled in his studies. He was a member of the youth movement of the moshavim, and as an adult he served as a counselor in the movement. He played on the Hefer Coast basketball team, was a member of the Zemer Hefer regional youth group and was very interested in knowing the country. In the 11th grade, Rami reached the final stage of the national quiz for the country, as part of the Gadna. He won first place in the competition. His talents and hobbies were many and varied. Aside from his interest in knowledge of the country and sports, he read a lot, composed songs and humor pieces for performances and events held in his neighborhood and at school. In July 1976, Rami enlisted in the Israel Air Force and served in the IAF for 13 months, until he was transferred to the Intelligence Corps, where he was promoted to the rank of Corporal, and in July 1977, He was promoted to the rank of sergeant and sent to the course of intelligence officers, and in November 1978 he successfully completed the course and rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel. He participated in Operation Litani, and the opinion of his commanders at the time was: “An idealistic young man, with a lot of energy and a desire to give to others.” “An officer with professional knowledge, very dedicated, willing to work in difficult conditions;” “A dedicated officer, advancing efficiently, promising and promising.” Rami completed his regular service in July 1979. He continued to serve in the regular army, joined several professional courses in the Intelligence Corps, and in November 1979 he rose to the rank of lieutenant. During the Peace for Galilee War, Rami proved his skills in the positions he held in Lebanon. On 2 November 1982 he rose to the rank of captain. Two days later, on November 4, 1982, while driving from Lebanon to Metula, on the steep descent to the Delphi bridge over the Litani River, the driver of the car veered off the road, hit the side of the bridge, turned over and fell into the abyss. The driver was killed on the spot. Captain Remi was rescued from the abyss in a complex helicopter operation and was evacuated to Rambam Hospital, where Rami fought for six hours, until Rami died at the age of 24. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Kfar Vitkin cemetery. The family published a booklet in his memory, including some of his works, poems and writings attesting to his talents, his many works and his philosophy.
