Cohen, Pinchas


Son of Sarah and Yeshayahu, was born in 1928 in the city of Marash, Turkey. He studied there at Talmud Torah and later began to work in various jobs. In 1944 he immigrated to Israel and worked as a laborer in the citrus orchards. A few weeks after the outbreak of the War of Independence, he volunteered to defend the homeland and served in one of the Hish battalions, passing the first baptism of fire in the village of Bir Adas and then participating in various battles, most recently on the front of Latrun, on the 17th of Iyar 5705 1948.) On the 17th of Tishrei 5710 (17.11.1949), he was transferred to the military cemetery at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, and in an investigation conducted in 2017, he found his resting place on Mount Herzl, Jerusalem, in Israel.
