Cohen, Oren
The eldest son of Lulu and Ilan. Born on the 5th of Tishrei, September 20, 1985 in Rehovot. In September 2005, at the end of his reserve studies, Oren enlisted and was appointed as ground mechanic of the Yasur helicopter. As an outstanding soldier with high potential, it was decided to advance him and send him to an airborne mechanics course. As an airborne mechanic, he participated in the activities of the “Night Rangers” squadron, and among the flying mechanics. Oren spent a couple of years in the army with an air force squad for training in the framework of cooperation between the Israeli and Romanian armies. During the training, while flying in foggy weather in southwestern Romania, the Yasur helicopter crashed on the side of the Carpathians and all the crew members perished. Oren Cohen fell in operational activity in the Romanian mountains on the 15th of Av, July 26, 2010. He was twenty-four years old. He was laid to rest in the military section of the Rechovot cemetery.
