Cohen, Moshe


Son of Vida and Joseph. During the First World War he lived in Alexandria, Egypt, where he volunteered to assist in the conquest of Palestine from the Turks. He was sent to Israel. He was attached to the 40th Battalion of the Kalai Squad, but the battalion did not manage to participate in the battles. At the end of the war, when he was in Rafah, Moses fell ill and was transferred to Alexandria, Egypt, where on 21 Shvat, 21 January 1919 he died while performing his duties and was brought to rest in the Jewish cemetery of Saturn in Alexandria. He left a wife in Alexandria. His name was immortalized in the book Yizkor, published by the Jabotinsky Institute and in the book “The Recognition of British Jewry 1914-1918” edited by Rabbi Michael Adler.
