Cohen, Moshe


Son of Shoshana and Danny. Born on the 4th of Iyar, 5762 (1966) in Tunis and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1973. He began studying at the Rachamim Elementary School in Dimona and continued at the Rashi State Religious School in Netanya. He graduated from the Bar-Ilan High School in Netanya, where he was a diligent student and his achievements in studies and in the children’s society were high, and when he was in seventh grade he took part in a cantorial course on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Head of the school council. When he completed his studies at the elementary school, he received an award of excellence for one student per class: “exemplary student certificate”. “Moshe was modest and humble, he did not raise his voice, he spoke calmly, and yet he was a leader whose talents were discovered in the operation of the council and in caring for every child.” Moshe also stood out in high school. In his last year there he accompanied trips to the lower grades. In addition, he volunteered for the Civil Guard. He was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early November 1984. After being trained as a combat soldier, he was sent to a combat paramedics course and was forced to leave the course in the hope of joining the next course. His professional background from high school was that Moshe was highly motivated and had the ability to learn, and on the 17th of Sivan, 5768 (1956), in the Golan Heights, Moshe fell in the line of duty and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya. He left behind his parents, two brothers and three sisters – Zilber, Ari, Orly, Caroline, and Yamit, in a letter of condolences to the bereaved family. The soldier had a good stamina, and stood well its tasks. During basic training, working in the battalion and in the liaison department as a liaison with the cell to which he belonged, he excelled in his reliability and devotion to his position.
